US President Donald Trump said Tuesday that Washington is merely delaying the assassination of Islamic Republic Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei "for now" and that he is seeking Iran's "UNCONDITIONAL SURRENDER." As he considers whether to increase US engagement in the war, Trump's remarks on social media implied a more assertive posture towards Iran.
"We are well aware of the location of the alleged "Supreme Leader." Trump commented on Truth Social, "We are not going to take him out (kill!), at least not for now. He is an easy target, but he is safe there."
At a turning point in his administration, Mr. Trump arrived at the White House early on Tuesday. With five days of missile strikes, Israel has caused significant harm to Iran and thinks it can now permanently destroy Tehran's nuclear program, especially with a little more assistance from the Republican president.
However, Mr. Trump faces significant political danger if he decides to increase American engagement, possibly by giving the Israelis bunker-busting bombs to breach Iranian nuclear sites buried deep underground or by providing other direct military assistance.
