The US president says Israel lacks the resources to destroy Fordo on its own and rejects the European attempt to start negotiations and his intelligence director's estimate of the nuclear breakout time.

Even though Tehran's foreign minister stated that his nation would not engage in nuclear negotiations with Washington as long as Israel's attack throughout the Islamic Republic persisted, US President Donald Trump signaled on Friday that he was not inclined to request that Israel stop its operations against Iran.

Trump told reporters, "I think it's very hard to make that request right now." It's a little more difficult to do that when someone is winning [than] when they're losing. However, we have been in communication with Iran and are prepared, willing, and able.

When it comes to conflict, Israel is winning, while Iran is losing. Getting someone to stop is a little challenging," he continued.

Addressing the growing crisis between Israel and Iran on June 20, President Donald Trump said it would be "very hard to request Israel stop attacking Iran right now," stressing that "if somebody is winning, it's a little bit harder to do than if somebody is losing." Although Trump indicated that he might be in favor of a cease-fire "depending on the circumstances," he emphasized how challenging it would be to stop Israeli activities while the nation has the upper hand.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi speaks to journalists on June 3, 2025, in Beirut.

Earlier Friday, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said there was no room for negotiations with the US “until Israeli aggression stops,” referencing the weeklong IDF strikes aimed at neutralizing threats posed by the Islamic Republic’s nuclear and ballistic missile programs.

However, Araghchi later traveled to Geneva to have discussions with European foreign ministers in the hopes that Europe could reestablish diplomatic relations.
