PM Modi and President Sanchez reaffirm their commitment to the India-EU collaboration.
On 28 October 2024, Prime Minister Narendra Modi met Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez. The meeting took place in the famous Durbar Hall of Laxmi Vilas Palace. Both the leaders had lunch in this palace built in the 19th century by "Maharaja Sayajirao Gaekwad III".
Prime Minister Narendra Modi welcomed PM Pedro Sanchez and said, we all missed you at the G20 Summit last year. I am very happy that Vadodara made me a Member of Parliament for the first time and I am welcoming you from here today during the celebration of Deepawali.
On 28 October 2024, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez inaugurated the TATA Aircraft Complex. This contract was signed between the Indian Ministry of Defense and Airbus Defense and Space. Under this contract, India will get 56 C295 aircraft. Out of which 16 aircraft will be available in flyway condition and the remaining 40 aircraft will be manufactured in India at the TATA Aircraft Complex. This aircraft will not only increase the capacity of the Indian Air Force but India will also move one step towards "Atmanirbhar Bharat".
Chairman N. Chandrasekaran said-
Chairman of Tata Sons, N. Chandrasekaran welcomed the dignitaries present there. Remembering Sir Ratan Tata, he said, "It would be a mistake if I do not mention that the foundation of this project was laid a decade ago in 2012 by the Chairman of Tata Sons, Sir Ratan Tata. It was he who built the relationship with Airbus." This is a historic moment not only for the Tata Group but also for the entire India. Chairman N. Chandrasekaran also informed that 200 employees of Tata Group are undergoing training under Airbus in Spain.
PM Modi said-
Prime Minister Narendra Modi remembered Sir Ratan Tata on this occasion and said, "We have lost a great son of this country some time ago. He would have been the happiest person if he had been here today, but wherever his soul is, he must be feeling happy."
The C295 aircraft is equipped with many features. It is a versatile tactical transport aircraft. This aircraft is designed in such a way that it is used for cargo transport, maritime patrol, surveillance, etc. This aircraft can carry a payload of 9 tons and 71 troops. Its top speed is 260 kts.
